As a reincarnate of a moth long past its life, this one came to rest on a bovine rib that was found on our neighboring land from decades ago. As I worked to bring these two elements together, I was reminded of the impermanence of our lives and the time in which we can inhabit our lives fully.

This sculpture was made from a macro photograph printed on textile, layered with encaustic medium, cut to shape, carved for relief, sculpted, and sewn into bovine bone, a powerful reminded to seize the day and hold heightened awareness of the cycle of life. This is a wall piece, but could be featured as a pedestal piece, as well.
