As I finished this final #artistsupportpledge wing last night, I did so within an energy of contentment and possibility, creating color combinations that pleased my eye, rather than trying to replicate the perfection inherent in nature.  When we trust our inner drive to create and make even a small space for it to blossom, new life emerges.  It has been wonderful to be inspired by this collective of artists working to bring the life-giving energy of their art into our world filled with so much challenge and pain at this time.  May we find beauty and rejuvenation of spirit when we are in need of uplifting…

The evocative wings are created from beeswax-layered photography, details carved into the thickly-clouded wax surface to bring the wing back to life before being sculpted into expressive new form and colored with powdered pigment.  They are inspired by the process of metamorphosis— a process which repeats itself many times over the course of our lives, offering endless opportunities for change. The Metamorphosis Series celebrates the life force present in each of us as we challenge ourselves to become more fully alive, a prominent theme in this unprecedented time of change.
